Founded at the end of 2003, Jiangsu Gemei High-tech Development Co Ltd covers an area of 20,000 square meters, among which 10,000 square meters are for scientific research, production and administration. With a total investment of over 50 million yuan, it has been up and running since August 2005.
The enterprise mainly specializes in research and development, manufacturing and sale, import and export of digital printing materials, digital printing (inkjet) ink, environmentally-friendly textile dyeing and finishing auxiliaries. Currently it has 3 digital printing material coating production lines with an annual output of 20 million square meters, a set of production equipment for digital printing (inkjet) ink with an annual output of 500 tons, 2 sets of dyeing and finishing auxiliaries and adhesives production devices with an annual output of 2,000 tons, 5 R&D laboratories and 1 pilot plant test workshop.
In the past five years, 15 new products in three categories have been launched on the market and exported to Europe, South America, the Middle East and other regions. Its flagship product, waterproof PP photo paper, has won the highest market share in China.
The company currently has 80 employees, 68 percent of whom have a college degree or above. There are eighteen R&D staff among whom three have a doctor’s degree and six have master's degrees. In the past three years, it has successively undertaken the development and implementation of many science and technology projects including the national torch plan, the innovation fund for key new products, and provincial and municipal science and technology innovation. The company’s six out of twelve national invention patents have been authorized. A number of technological achievements and scientific papers have won science and technology progress awards and the Outstanding Paper Award of ministerial, provincial and municipal levels.
In 2008, it passed the re-evaluation for national high-tech enterprises and then established the "National Postdoctoral Scientific Research Substation" under the authorization of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and was approved by the Provincial Science and Technology Agency to set up the "Jiangsu Engineering and Technology Research Center for Digital Colored Inkjet Export Materials". Then, it founded the "City-level Enterprise Technical Center" and other R&D platforms with the approval of the Municipal Economic and Information Commission. In 2009, it passed the quality and environmental management system’s changed editions’ re-evaluation of National Quality Certification Center (CQC) ISO9001:2008, and ISO14001:2004.
The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
