Over the years, the development area has made great efforts to promote convenient and environmentally-friendly travel. Last year, Nantong invested 3 million yuan ($479,000) in a public bicycle renting service. This year, another 12 million yuan ($1.91 million) was allocated to develop “one-yuan buses”.

The four local bus lines adopt a one ticket system, which means ticket prices are fixed. The price is 1 yuan for each ticket; IC cards are also available.

The two commuter lines also adhere to the one-yuan system. If passengers use an IC card, they can enjoy a 30 percent discount. In addition, senior citizens can take the bus for free. The commuter buses can stop wherever passengers need, making them extremely convenient.
