A Hubei tourism delegation promoted several tour itineraries in the province, which attracted reservations from nearly 3,000 Taiwan residents, at the eighth Taipei Cross-Straits Travel Fair which was held in Taipei from Oct 18 to 21, hubeitour.gov.cn reported.

The Hubei delegation occupied two exhibition areas, one aimed at promoting the tour itineraries and the other concerning tourist products. The province's representatives also organized a quiz related to Hubei, and they offered discounts to those who signed up for tours.

The travel fair was also aimed at promoting cooperation between cross-Straits travel agencies, and Xiongshi travel agency from Taiwan and Xiazhou travel agency from Hubei signed an agreement of intent, concerning a plan to organize 100 Taiwan delegations to travel in Hubei next year. The most popular itineraries concern tours in Wuhan, the provincial capital, the Three Gorges Dam and Wudang Mountains.

A promotional event for Hubei tourist products was held on Oct 19, and the province's delegation focused on attracting Taiwan visitors by highlighting Hubei's modern and convenient transportation system and its cultural tourism resources. The province's representatives promoted tours such as those to Shennongjia, sites of the Three Kingdoms (AD 220-280) and ethnic groups in En'shi autonomous prefecture.

Taiwan businesspeople said that the island's residents are familiar with many of Hubei's famous tourist products, and they will aim to further explore the tourism market, and encourage more local residents to travel to Hubei.
