The 10th China International Garden Expo will be held in Wuhan in 2015, the organizing committee said on Oct 18, adding that the expo will complement Wuhan's historical and cultural heritage and will showcase the city's attractions to visitors from around the world.

The expo will be located in the west of Zhanggong Embankment in the suburbs of Wuhan, which includes a lake, a pagoda and two bridges, and divided into three parts. In addition, the organizers plan to create a hill on a local refuse landfill called Jinkou, and a wetland area.

The National Development and Reform Commission selected Wuhan in December 2007 as a comprehensive reform pilot area concerning saving resources and creating an eco-friendly society.

Su Nibin, director of the Wuhan Bureau of Parks, said that the planning and design of the garden expo, with the theme "Ecological Garden Expo, Green Life", will embody green, eco-friendly concepts such as clean energy.

China International Garden Expo is the most prestigious event of its kind, and it has been held nine times since 1997.
