Danjiangkou aims to attract more visitors

Danjiangkou Dam, in Danjiangkou city, Hubei province, is not only a hydro-junction for flood protection and electricity generation, but also a water conservancy scenic area, and 200,000 people visited the area last year, resulting in revenue of 20 million yuan ($3.28 million).

Over the last few years, Hanjiang River Group has increased investment for the greening of the dam area and the construction of various facilities such as parking lots and hotels.

Danjiangkou Dam water conservancy scenic area includes a viewing area, Danjiangkou engineering exhibition hall, Qixi Park and the Longshan hotel.

In order to meet the requirements of a national level water conservancy scenic area, Danjiangkou city has integrated tourism resources and built a tourist reception center, tourist trails and landscape viewing points.

The city authorities have also put more buses and boats into service to cater to visitors.

Located in the intersection of the cities of Shiyan, Nanyang and Xiangyang, and near the well-known tourist attraction of Wudang Mountains, Danjiangkou is also expected to become a popular scenic spot in the west of Hubei.
