Wuhan hosts Miaoli tourism promotional event

Miaoli County Tourism Association in Taiwan and Wuhan Tourism Association hosted an activity aimed at promoting tourism to Miaoli county, in Wuhan on July 28.

A short film featuring the beautiful scenes in the county was screened at the start of the event, and Liu Yingzi, vice mayor of Wuhan, addressed participants, saying she looks forward to increased cooperation in tourism between Miaoli and Wuhan.

Jiang Deli, chairman of the Miaoli tourism association, spoke about the county’s attractions and activities for visitors, such as its Woodcarving Street, strawberry picking and hot springs.

During the event, about 300 Wuhan residents made reservations for tours to Miaoli with five tourist agencies in Wuhan that are qualified to conduct such tours.

Miaoli is located in the northwest of Taiwan, covering an area of 1,820 square kilometers. The county is known for woodcarving and its world-class spas. Tourism between Miaoli and Wuhan has increased since the two sides signed an agreement on tourism in May.

A total of 26 flights leave Wuhan for Taiwan every week, 90,000 visitors headed to the island from Wuhan last year, and the city attracted more than 200,000 Taiwan visitors during the same period. Wuhan is a pilot city for individual tourism to Taiwan.
