More than 400 college students from Hubei province and Taiwan gathered in Luojia Mountain in the city of Wuhan, Hubei, for a culture event on July 10.
From July 10 to 17, the students participated in a micro-film competition themed around Chinese culture. They also participated in a tour, organized by Huazhong University of Science and Technology, to “Guanggu”, also known as Wuhan’s Donghu New-Tech Industrial Development Zone.
Wang Guosheng, governor of the province, told the attendees how he and Li Hongzhong, Party secretary of Hubei, led delegations to Taiwan for cultural exchanges.
Last year, the delegation presented a folk dance, We Live Along the Changjiang River, which received a warm welcome from Taiwan. He expressed his hope that Jingchu culture and the beautiful landscapes will impress the visitors.
Zhang Daili, a member of Hubei’s Standing Committee, said that, "Peaceful development of the mainland and Taiwan has offered a broader platform for youth. Hubei has extended its welcome by rolling out policies to guarantee education and employment for Taiwan students."
Party secretary of Wuhan University, Han Jin, and Hubei’s secretary-general, Wang Xiangxi, were on hand at the opening ceremony of the cross-Straits culture event.
