Thirteen rowing teams from the world’s elite universities will gather in Wuhan from July 22 to 26. They will participate in the 2013 China Wuhan Magnificent East Lake International Universities Rowing Regatta.

The regatta will be held together with the second session of the One City, Binary Stars friendly dragon boat match between Wuhan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The event will be held on Tuanhu Lake of Chu castle on Mo Mountain in Wuhan.

Rowing teams of well-known universities will gather in East Lake

The 13 teams that will participate in the rowing regatta come from 12 foreign and domestic universities, including Cambridge, Yale, University of Copenhagen, University of Amsterdam, University of Paris, University of London, University of Pavia and University of Otago. They will compete together with Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi’an Jiao Tong University and Fourth Military Medical University.

In addition, the Wuhan college students league team composed of Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Wuhan Sports University will debut in the rivalry. They will show the healthy, positive, optimistic and enterprising spirit of the students.

The second session of the dragon boat regatta between WHU and HUST is expected to reach a peak again

Last June, the first competition between the two Wuhan Universities deeply impressed the citizens. A year later, the two “brothers” will carry out a fierce contest again on July 25 in East Lake.

The same as last year, the friendly dragon boat match will select ordinary students from the two universities to attend 800-meter men’s and 500-meter mixed competitions. There will be 22 people in each boat. The One City, Binary Stars friendly dragon boat match will display the image of Wuhan city and the tourism value of East Lake.

Integration of Eastern and Western cultures will be glamorous

As the friendly dragon boat match and the International Universities Rowing Regatta will be held simultaneously, a nice platform can be provided for communication between universities in Wuhan and the world’s elite universities.

At the same time, the traditional aquatic sports of both Eastern and Western countries can organically integrate. It will promote the world’s understanding of traditional Chinese culture while deepening China’s comprehension of the world’s sports culture.

The magnificent East Lake will share its unique natural landscape and rich cultural heritage to the world through the two important competitions. It will also push coordinated development of culture, sports and tourism undertakings in Wuhan.
