Hubei is an important place to the Chinese revolution. As a reflection of this, revolutionary tours are very popular in Hubei and Wuhan, Hongan, Yingshan and Luotian are in the ranks of 100 classic revolutionary tourist areas in China.

At present, revolutionary tourism of Hubei may be divided into three major areas and are mainly in the areas centering on Wuhan, Dabieshan and Honghu Qujiawan.

Wuhan plays a vital role in the Chinese revolutionary history as many major historical events took place there. It has the former site of the National Institute of the Peasant Movement, Former Residence of Mao Zhedong, Martyr Xiang Jingyu’s Tomb, “February 7th” Martyr Monument, the former site of “the Fifth National Congress of the Communist Party of China” and more.

Dabieshan Mountain is the original place of Huangma Uprising, the birthplace of the Fourth Red Army, and the main war zone of the War of Liberation and all sites are well preserved.

Hongan county alone has 340 historical revolutionary sites. Honghu Qujiawan was the capital of Western Hunan and Western Hubei Soviet Area and the cradle of the Second Red Army in the Second Revolutionary Civil War. He Long, Zhou Yiqun, Deng Zhongxia, Duan Dechang and other excellent politicians and militarians regarded Baili Lake as a base and created a glorious model for guerrilla war in the water. Additionally, there is also the former site of Yangxin Longgan Revolution, the former site of the Northern Expedition in Tingsiqiao, Xianning and the former site of the central China military area command headquarters in Xuanhuadian, Dawu, which all bear witness to the Chinese revolution.
