The 6th Wuhan Service Outsourcing Industry Development and Cooperation International Forum was held on April 20, 2012.

At the forum, Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Committee, together with Hubei United Investment Group, signed the strategic cooperation agreement concerning the construction of Wuhan Software New Town.

Jia Yaobin, deputy mayor of Wuhan, attended the forum and said that the project is the very first strategic cooperation between the Optic Valley and the Silicon Valley. It marks Wuhan's effort to achieve hundreds of billions of yuan in the output value of the service outsourcing industry.

In 2009, Wuhan was approved to be the National Service Outsourcing Representative City by the State Council. In 2011, only two years later, Wuhan was one of the cities in China with the fastest growth and highest density in the service outsourcing industry.

With an area of over 3 square kilometers and more than 10 billion yuan ($1.6 billion) investment, the Wuhan Software New Town is going to accommodate about 1,000 enterprises and provide over hundreds of thousands of jobs after its construction. It is evaluated that its annual output value will surpass 2 billion yuan.

Dalian Yida Group is planning to build Wuhan to be the largest and most international software and information technology service base, a leader in the innovation and creation industry as well as a green life demonstration plot, which will make Wuhan the largest service outsourcing city in central China.
