A video grab shows the suspect.

UHAN - Police have launched a manhunt for a suspect believed to be responsible for an explosion that killed two people and injured 15 others in Wuhan in central Hubei province on Dec 1, according to a spokesman with the city police on Monday.

The suspect is a male approximately 1.65 to 1.70 meters tall, the spokesman said.

The explosion took place at about 5:30 pm on a sidewalk outside a China Construction Bank (CCB) branch in the Hongshan district.

The blast littered the sidewalk and the road in front of the bank with glass shards and other debris, as well as causing damage inside the bank, to an adjacent drugstore, and several vehicles parked nearby. Several bank employees and security guards suffered slight injuries.

An initial investigation showed the blast was triggered by an unidentified object outside the bank, according to police.

On Sunday, police announced a reward for clues or information and released the suspect's photo, which was captured by surveillance video.
