The first shipment that has been delivered to Wuhan Steel from Brazilian iron ore company MMX unloaded at Wuhan Steel Harbor Pier one august 15 through inland river transportation.

It is reported that on the afternoon of August 8th 2010, 162,000 tonnes of iron ore from Brazil were loaded at Beilun Ningbo port, this is the first shipment that has been delivered to Wuhan Steel since it implemented the strategy of seeking overseas resources. Wuhan Steel signed a cooperative agreement with EBX on November 30th 2009 to fund USD 400 million in EBX subsidiary MMX. As the second largest shareholder of MMX, Wuhan Steel acquired the interests in MMX’s iron ore products. On June 29th of 2010, iron concentrates produced by MMX North Region mines were shipped from Rio de Janeiro to Wuhan Steel plant.
