Guiyang receives Spring Festival greetings from sister cities

Upon the arrival of the Spring Festival, which fell on Feb 1 this year, Guizhou's provincial capital of Guiyang received holiday greetings from mayors of its sister cities and friendship cities.

Mattie Parker, mayor of Fort Worth in the United States, said that the online photo exhibition in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the friendly relationship between Guiyang and Fort Worth was critically acclaimed. He looks forward to the world returning to normal so that the two cities can continue to cooperate.

Grant Smith, mayor of Palmerston North in New Zealand, said that 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and New Zealand, and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between Palmerston North and Guiyang. He looks forward to more exchanges between the two cities in terms of the environment, innovation, agriculture and digital economy.

Joanne Anderson, mayor of Liverpool in the United Kingdom, expressed hope that the two cities can maintain their friendship and looks forward to putting offline meetings back on the table.

Mayor of Ta Khmau in Cambodia thanked Guiyang for its assistance in fighting COVID-19 and believes the two cities can realize mutual development through innovative, high-efficiency and pragmatic cooperation.

Edwin Olivarez, mayor of Parañaque in the Philippines, expressed hope that Parañaque and Guiyang can become sister cities as soon as possible and expand cooperation.

Prasongsinh Chaleunsouk, mayor of Kaysone Phomvihane in Laos, expressed hope that the two cities can maintain a long-lasting and friendly relationship relying on the China-Laos community of shared future.

Eduardo Paes, mayor of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, said that the similarities and culture attractiveness between Guiyang and Rio de Janeiro will bring the two cities closer to each other. He looks forward to cooperation between the two cities in sustainable development, tourism, innovation and economy.

Oleksandr Lysenko, mayor of Sumy in Ukraine, said in his congratulatory letter that Sumy and Guiyang signed a letter of intent to become sister cities in 2021, and achieved cooperation progress in several areas. He looks forward to strengthening the relationship this year.

Konstantinos Tzioumis, mayor of Tripoli in Greece; Yeoh Soon Hin from Penang State EXCO Office for Tourism and Creative Economy in Malaysia; and Analaura Soto Romero from Uruguayan Agency for International Cooperation also sent greetings to Guiyang.
