Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, held a news release conference on Dec 24 to introduce its achievements during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).

In 2018, Guiyang proposed to promote economic development through opening-up and established China's first municipal opening-up work commission.

It also established nine special work teams in charge of comprehensive investigation, commerce development, manufacturing industry development, port logistics development, investment attraction, talent attraction, investment and financing, foreign exchange and publicity.

Guiyang has become a hub city of China's logistics network and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. It is covered by China's two-hour flight circle and seven-hour high-speed railway economic circle.

The metropolis has optimized the management system for its four national development zones, six provincial development zones and special areas supervised by customs.

It has planned Sino-Germany and Sino-Japan industrial parks to participate in the international division, held significant global events and was approved to construct service trade innovation pilot areas and cross-border e-commerce pilot areas.

Guiyang ranks first in Guizhou for foreign trade, as it has business contracts with 157 countries and regions, short customs clearance times and digital tax refund or exemption procedures.

So far, Guiyang has established friendly relationships with 17 cities, opened commercial representative offices in six countries, established culture and tourism promotion centers in Macao, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, Moscow and Frankfurt, and built its first overseas chamber of commerce in the United Arab Emirates.

Guiyang is expanding its influence globally by cooperating with ASEAN countries in tourism, culture and trade, and by working with Germany, South Korea and Japan on middle and high-end manufacturing and commerce.
