Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has recently set goals for the future of its economic development and its integration into the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), according to the fifth plenary session of the 10th CPC Guiyang Committee.

Guiyang will accelerate construction on its expressway network, which will allow people to travel between neighboring areas in just three hours. A multimodal, compressive, intelligent, and environmentally friendly logistics transportation network will also be built.

An increase in imported goods will help stimulate the economy in Guiyang. International exhibitions such as the Big Data Expo, the Eco Forum Global, and the China Guizhou International Alcoholic Beverages Expo are expected to make the city a global market for middle and high-end consumption.

Guiyang plans to improve its business environment to meet international standards and attract investors and talents from home and abroad, with the goal of becoming an attractive destination for middle and high-end manufacturing companies.

By 2020, Guiyang plans to establish a comprehensive opening-up system and introduce a series of middle and high-end manufacturing and trade service companies.

By 2025, the city aims to become a leader in the opening-up of West China and build middle and high quality manufacturing towns by developing international land and sea trade routes.

By 2035, it plans to form a new industrial system focusing on middle and high end manufacturing and become an influential international trade and manufacturing city in West China.
