Big data makes class smarter

Blackboards and chalk have become obsolete at class in a high school in Qingzhen, a county level city in Guiyang.

Unlike the traditional classes where teachers present the key points on blackboard, the new teaching mode allows teachers to use a tablet and a projector to complete all the teaching tasks in class.

Students can complete assignments given by teachers on their tablets and teachers can check their work at teachers' terminals and give accuracy rate immediately.

The smart class is the result of the "big data plus education" project launched by Guiyang government this March. So far, 60 classes from eight schools in the urban area have adopted the intelligent teaching system supported by the big data technology.

Additionally, the capital city of Guizhou province has been striving to draw better education resources to relatively poor regions. There are 36 Beijing schools, covering preschool education, compulsory education, occupational education and community education, cooperating with their Guiyang counterparts to boost local education.
