The Economic Development Summit for International Conference and Exhibition was held in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, on Sept 10.
As a major event during the seventh China International Alcoholic Beverage Expo, the summit provided a platform for people at home and abroad to learn about Guizhou and its related industries.
Government officials and experts attended the summit to discuss global trends and the development of conferences and exhibitions in Guizhou, including Wei Dingmei, vice-mayor of Guiyang, who launched an initiative to found the Guiyang Alliance of International Conference and Exhibition.
In recent years, the development of conferences and exhibitions in Guizhou has received remarkable achievements. Many large-scale events hosted by the province enjoy a global reputation, including the annual Eco Forum Global, China International Alcoholic Beverage Exop and Big Data Expo.
In 2016, the revenue received from conferences and exhibitions valued about 15 billion yuan ($2.3 billion), accounting for 1.43 percent of the GDP in Guizhou, 0.66 percent higher than the national level.
