Guizhou Amateur Post Cup Go Competition hits the table

To celebrate World Post Day Guizhou held the Amateur Post Cup Go Competition on Oct 9, attracting players to compete for a 10,000 yuan ($1,492) prize pool.

World Post Day celebrates the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874 and highlights the role of postal services worldwide.

The competition was sponsored by Guizhou Provincial Sports Bureau, Guizhou Provincial Post Bureau and China Post Group Guizhou branch.

According to the competition organizing committee, a total of 256 players took part in eight rounds of the competition.

Go (Weiqi in Chinese) is a board game that originated in China more than 2,500 years ago. It involves two players placing black and white stones on a board in turns, with an objective to surmount the opponent's pieces.
