Guiyang Big Data Exchange (GBDE), a platform committed to increasing government transparency, has been granted access to all public data in China at every level of government.

According to GBDE's CEO Wang Sanshou, the amount of the data stored by GBDE is expected to surpass that of Alibaba, one of the world's largest Internet companies in terms of revenue.

GBDE aims to improve privacy protection and data ownership in China through advanced technologies. Since it was officially opened in April last year, GBDE has been recognized by the government and has collaborated on big data projects with various companies.

As of Sept 1, it had more than 500 member companies, including the likes of Huawei, Tencent and China Unicom.

Shandong Galaxy Bio-Tech recently purchased GBDE's big data analysis platform for global medicine patents for 16 million yuan ($24 million).

Guiyang Big Data Exchange is devoted to encouraging the government to make its non-sensitive data public. It has branches in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
