As the curtain rises on the annual session of the National People's Congress of China, new deputies, including provincial governors, scholars, judges, scientists and farmers, are preparing to make their debuts.

Chen Qiufa, governor of Northeast China's Liaoning province, Yin Li, governor of Southwest China's Sichuan province and Sun Zhigang, governor of Southwest China's Guizhou province, are among the new deputies to the 12th National People's Congress. They were elected by the standing committees of their local people's congress.

Chen used to be chairman of the Hunan provincial committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference before being appointed Liaoning governor last year.

Yin, former deputy director of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, is now governor of Southwest China's Sichuan province.

Like Yin, Guizhou governor Sun also spent a period of his career in the National Health and Family Planning Commission.

Besides the provincial governors, Hu Heping, deputy secretary of the Party committee in Northwest China's Shaanxi province and Mao Weiming, executive vice-governor of East China's Jiangxi province, are also among the new deputies.

Hu used to be Party chief of Tsinghua University, while Mao was former deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
