A public benefit activity has been carried out to help children who have cleft lip and palate in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province.

A surgical team comprised of 25 experts of the Alliance of Smiles from the United States, the UK, Canada and India will offer free comprehensive treatment for children suffering from cleft lip and palate from poverty-stricken families from March 15 to 28.

This is the second time that the Alliance of Smiles based in the United States will carry out such a public-benefit action.

As many as 127 children from poor families will be examined, and those who meet the requirement will get free comprehensive treatment.

In 2013, the Guiyang family planning association cooperated with the Alliance of Smiles to treat 71 impoverished children.

In June 2014, the family planning association invited experts from the Alliance of Smiles to provide training in a stomatological hospital, where the Guiyang AFS International Cleft Lip and Palate Treatment Center was founded in September.

The activity will be available again in October of this year.
