Guiyang hosts Asian Youth Animation and Comics contest

The eighth Asian Youth Animation and Comics Contest, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Guiyang municipal government and Guizhou Provincial Cultural Department, opened in Guiyang college, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on November 30.

The event has gathered hundreds of animation experts from home and abroad, and they will contribute thoughts to the Asian animation and digital arts industry in the next few days.

As one of the largest and most influential animation events in the Asia-Pacific region, the eighth Asian Youth Animation and Comics Contest has collected more than 20,000 animation works from as many as 78 countries and regions, including China, Japan, Korea, the US, India, Iran and Spain.

Through a rigorous selection process, the contest will present 23 awards, including Best Animation Work, Best Director, Best Visual Effects, Best Technology Application and Special Award for International Cooperation.

John A. Lent, director of the Asia-Pacific Animation Association, said, "The contest's organizing committee wants to provide a platform for animation youth talents through this opportunity, to help more animation institutes and experts see their work and offer them support."
