Research Report, No. 121, 2020 (Total 5865) 2020-5-22

Abstract: According to the 2019 household survey, more than 60 percent of China’s families believe that the overall situation in education has improved compared to last year. According to the telephone survey, the overall satisfaction rate with education has also increased by more than 10 percentage points over the previous year, but it still lags behind in the satisfaction rating with 12 livelihood issues. From the household survey results with more detailed data, the pressure of family’s expenditure on education is still great, showing an increasing trend year by year. The study pressure of primary and middle school students is big, and the schoolwork burden is still heavy. The allocation of educational resources is still not balanced, after-school services in primary and middle schools are still insufficient, and the supply of inclusive kindergartens is still inadequate. In this regard, it is necessary to seriously implement the decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council and the spirit of the National Conference on Basic Education, focus on improving the quality and promoting fairness, overcome difficulties, and vigorously promote the implementation, so as to effectively alleviate the pressure of family’s education expenditure, lighten the primary and middle school students schoolwork burden, encourage primary and secondary schools to make good use of the mainstream after-school services, increase inclusive kindergarten supply through various channels, and make every effort to do a good job in providing people with satisfactory education.
