Abstract: Traditional culture is a significant heritage accumulated from the past long-term social practices, which runs through a nation from generation to generation. China’s traditional culture embodies prominent geographic features, which have exerted an imperceptible impact on the way of social governance across the country. At present, some positive parts of traditional culture which are in line with the core value of socialism have been playing a conducive role in accelerating China’s social governance, especially in the grassroots communities. In comparison with other regions, Putian city in Fujian Province enjoys a much more influence from its traditional local culture with Matsu culture playing a proactive part in its social governance. The local government has bought into full play the guiding role of the local culture in the management of local comprehensive social governance. Its typical experience deserves in-depth study and concern.
