37th Annual Meeting of China-Japan Forum for Exchange of Economic Knowledge held in Japan

Li Wei, the chief representative of the Chinese delegation, attended the 37th Annual Meeting of China-Japan Forum for Exchange of Economic Knowledge from May 28 to 31. Li is also a Standing Committee member and Chairman of the Population, Resources and Environment Committee of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

The meeting was held in Sendai City, Japan. State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi sent a congratulatory letter to the event.

Toshihiko Fukui, the chief representative of the Japanese side, who is also the President of the Canon Institute for Global Studies and former Governor of the Bank of Japan, attended the opening ceremony.

Li delivered a speech at the welcome dinner. Wang Yiming, Vice-President of the Development Research Center of the State Council, presided over the second session of the meeting titled "China-Japan Economic Situation and Policy", and delivered a speech and concluding remarks at the appreciation dinner.

Delegates from China and Japan held in-depth discussions on the three major issues of "the world economic situation", "the Sino-Japanese economic situation" and "Sino-Japanese economic and trade cooperation and technological innovation".

On the afternoon of May 30, Li met with Tadashi Izawa, chairman of the Japan-China Economic Association, and exchanged views on issues such as cooperation between the two sides.

On the morning of May 31, Wang accepted an interview with Japan’s Asahi Shimbun on topics such as the meeting, Sino-Japanese economic cooperation, and Sino-US economic and trade frictions.

The Chinese delegation also conducted field research at the Toshiba Science Museum, an Iris Ohyama factory, and Tohoku Fukushi University.
