Give Full Scope to the Supporting and Leading Role of Think Tanks in the Service of the Belt and Road Initiative

The media center of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held a news briefing and invited Prof. Zhang Junkuo, Vice President of DRC, to give an introduction on think tanks’ role in policy exchanges and the synergy of strategies, as well as DRC’s contribution to the Belt and Road Initiative. According to Prof. Zhang, the government, enterprises and relevant social entities need to play a role in policy exchanges and the synergy of strategies, and think tanks, especially government think tanks need to further promote policy exchanges and the cohesion between respective development strategies. Some progress has been made by DRC in the Belt and Road Initiative. First, DRC has given full play to the advantages of think tanks and has taken the lead in building the platform and network for the cooperation of international think tanks relating to the Belt and Road Initiative. Second, DRC has concentrated all efforts in making researches on the plans and approaches relating to the Belt and Road Initiative and got engaged in providing policy consultations and advices on the coordination of plans and policies as well as the mechanism design. Third, DRC has strengthened the cooperation and communication with foreign think tanks, international organizations and multinational companies and played the role as a bridge in spreading the visions of the Belt and Road Initiative, interpreting relevant policies and communicating peoples’ wishes. In the future, DRC will further enhance the construction of the platform and network for the cooperation of international think tanks relating to the Belt and Road Initiative, strive to build a high-end platform for the communication and cooperation of the Belt and Road Initiative, and comprehensively improve its researches for the realization of the Initiative through providing decision-making proposals and policy consultations to the Central Government.
