Research Report No.109, 2016 (Total 4992) 2016-8-23

Abstract: The Belt and Road Initiative will witness a major historic opportunity for China’s development in the near future. Countries and regions along the Belt and Road routes have a larger scale of potential markets, which are complementary to China’s economy and have broad prospects for China’s investment. At present, China’s economy and the world economy are deeply integrated and China’s foreign investment has entered a golden period of growth. Promoting investment in countries and regions along the Belt and Road routes could bring important opportunities for China’s development, which will help open a new chapter for China’s foreign investment, foster new advantages for China’s international competitions, push forward the internationalization of financial services, enhance China’s influence on the governance rules of the global trade, and build communities of common interests. Since the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative, China’s investment in countries and regions along the Belt and Road routes has been growing rapidly, with a large room for improvement. The implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative should meet enterprises’ demand in line with investment promotion policies, enhance scientific planning and guidance, press ahead with the reform of investment management system through adequate policy and service support, and strengthen international coordination and communication so as to provide strong support and protection to the investments along the Belt and Road routes.
