Research Report No 26, 2015 (Total 4711)

Abstract:

Through ten years' practice of exploration and exploitation and after tackling key technological and theoretical issues, China has, in the field of shale gas development, made great achievement in evaluation of resource potentiality, core technology, equipment system and enhancement of basic theory. The analysis on procurability of resources, feasibility of technology and accessibility of economy has been fully demonstrated. A good foundation on the development of shale gas has been laid and basic conditions for large-scale commercial exploitation have been built. It is suggested that during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the government, with advanced planning, scientific deployment and elaborate organization, take the enriched zone of shale gas under Longmaxi Formation of Marine Silurian in Sichuan Basin as major commercial development area, intensify the exploration of shale gas, bolster the large-scale development through technological and commercial innovation, and cultivate an economical, clean and safe factorization production approach and development mode. It is hoped that the annual output of shale gas could exceed 30 billion cubic meters by 2020.
