2010-08-26

Xi'an Daming Palace National Heritage Park will be open to the public in October.

A series of events have been scheduled to attract visitors, such as a Daming Palace Art Festival, Virtual show of the Silk Road, summit of ancient city's development and relic protection and a "Daming palace - world's heritage" summit.

In addition, most of the scenic spots in Xi'an Daming Palace are free, except for relic display areas, 3D cinemas and art performances. A one-ticket policy has been adopted, and the ticket price for an adult is 60 yuan. Eight bicycle rental stops will be put into use. Recreational and sports infrastructure will be established, including a small football court and a basketball court.

Zhou Bin, chief of Daming Palace Protection Office, says Daming Palace is expected to welcome at least 2 million visitors in each of the next two years. The total investment is 12 billion yuan, of which 3 billion is used to display the relics in Daming Palace and improve the infrastructure.
