As the Titans of China's telecommunication industry, Huawei and ZTE stalled each other with a string of patent suits. On April 28, Huawei took legal actions in Germany, France, Hungary and other European countries, accusing ZT E of infringing its patents and trademarks associating with data telecommunication card and high speed mobile telecommunication technologies.

ZTE responded by filing a lawsuit against Huawei, claiming the latter has infringed it's patents in terms of the fourth generation mobile telecommunication system (LTE). It is believed that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has stepped in over the dispute. According to reports, Huawei hired a group of Internet "water army" (paid posters) to post related opinions and information, comments on forums and Blogs. Where the spat will lead to is yet to be seen.
