National animation industrial park scheduled to open in July
A national animation industrial park, home to startups with intellectual property and innovative capacity, is scheduled to open in July in the port city.
The park's development blueprint calls for up to 100 small and medium-sized companies and 10 leading enterprises to begin operations during the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015).
Administrators plan to offer resident companies business consultation, technological and equipment support, operational guidance and help with intellectual property management.
The added services are expected to assist emerging companies reduce operational costs and investment risks while strengthening the city's animation industry.

2.Beijing
Development of first large aircraft, the C919, 'going well'
Development and fabrication of China's first large aircraft, the C919, is "going well", with the focus now on production of components, according to chief designer Wu Guanghui.
The final assembly process will begin soon, he said.
The C919 is scheduled to have its maiden flight in 2014 and enter service after gaining certification in 2016.
The prototype was recently shown at a high-tech exhibition at the National Convention Center.

NPC deputy: Academic fraud should be classed as a crime
A deputy to the National People's Congress proposed that academic fraud should be classified as a crime at the annual meeting that ended on Monday.
Yan Xijun, vice-president of the Association of Tianjin Industry and Commerce, said authorities should provide more severe punishment for those who receive research funding or prize money as a result of academic cheating.
Self-discipline in the nation's academia is weak, he noted, so laws and regulations as well as a public supervision system and investigation department are urgently needed.

Famous brands receive boost in award of 10 million yuan
The Tangshan government recently awarded nearly 10 million yuan ($1.5 million) to 51 local companies with famous brands as part of the city's trademark strategy.
Hebei currently has 8,650 trademarks. Nine of them are classified as well-known brands in fields ranging from ceramics and building materials to beer and food.
Some 172 trademarks have been granted the status of provincially famous brands.
The number of well-known brands is expected to rise to 20 by the end of 2015 and include companies engaged in manufacturing, chemicals, medicine and heavy industries, according to government officials.

College kid has 150 inventions, some already commercialized
Zhang Yefang, a senior at Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University, patented 150 inventions during his four years of college, some of them already commercialized.
His inventions include automated ceiling fans, rust-free railings and knockdown badminton rackets.
The university even set up a fund recently to support his research.
Zhang said he has been interested in creating inventions since childhood. He invented a mousetrap with an alarm while in the third grade, which even then won a top prize in an invention competition.

Counterfeit medicine made with sawdust, bran and flour
Jingzhou police have arrested 23 suspects for production and sale of fake medicines after uncovering six production sites.
Using sawdust, bran and flour, the facilities produced at least 100 million counterfeit capsules over a six-month period that were labeled as 201 types of certified medicine.
The fakes were sold nationwide over the Internet.
A plastic-wrapped sheet of 12 fake capsules cost just 0.3 yuan to make and retailed for more than 10 yuan, according to Guo Zhiqiang, an official of the city's drug administration.
