Criminal penalties for forcibly having sex with a woman against her will

The crime of rape refers to the conduct of having sex with a woman against her will by violence, coercion or any other means or intentionally having sex with a girl under the age of 14.

Any person who commits the crime of rape shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than ten years. If it has any of the following circumstances, the person will be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than ten years, life imprisonment or death: (1) the circumstances is extremely bad; (2) raping several women or girls under the age of 14; (3) raping a woman before the public in a public place; (4) one or more persons raping a woman in succession; or (5) causing serious injury or death to the victim or any other serious consequences.
