Weihai brings traditional Chinese medicine closer to residents
In Weihai's Huancui district, access to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is becoming more convenient. Newly established community-based TCM rooms are bringing centuries-old therapies into local neighborhoods, allowing residents to receive care without leaving their communities.
The TCM room in Zhangcun town offers a calm, welcoming atmosphere that feels more like a neighborhood clinic than a hospital. Here, patients can rest on therapy beds while physicians take pulses and review medical notes — a quieter, more personal experience compared to the hustle and bustle of larger hospitals.

For Shen Jiling, a town resident, the change has made a big difference. "You don't even have to leave the neighborhood," she said. "If you have back pain or feel unwell, you can just come here. Before, we had to travel far. Now it's only a short walk downstairs. It's really convenient."
The introduction of these TCM rooms is part of a broader effort to strengthen primary healthcare in the district. By deploying experienced practitioners and upgrading local facilities, Zhangcun town is ensuring residents have access to a wide range of services, from diagnosis and treatment to wellness and prevention.

More than just medical spaces, the TCM rooms also help carry forward traditional health wisdom. Affordable, practical, and trusted, they are making traditional medicine both accessible and relevant for modern communities. (Edited by Hu Kaili)
