As the autumn harvest season approaches, Ningyang county in Tai'an, East China's Shandong province, has launched a comprehensive campaign to ensure efficient crop harvesting and sowing operations. Authorities are coordinating agricultural machinery deployment, on-site technical guidance, and enhanced power supply services to support farmers across the region.
Agricultural technical teams have been dispatched to key towns such as Dongshu, offering precise assistance on pest control, grain maturity evaluation, and best practices for harvesting and drying. The county is also facilitating a seamless transition from corn harvesting to winter wheat sowing, using real-time soil moisture data to optimize planting schedules.
In addition, Ningyang is turning a previous challenge — straw waste — into valuable resources through its provincial straw recycling initiative. Methods like straw returning, baling, and repurposing for energy and silage feed production are being promoted, with companies like Guoneng and Shengli Animal Husbandry leading these efforts.
To secure reliable electricity during this critical period, State Grid Taian Power Supply Co has established 12 special service teams to conduct thorough inspections of rural power facilities, implement grid-based maintenance, and offer fast-track services for irrigation-related power applications. Safety education and promotional materials are also being distributed to farmers.
Farmers like Zhang Ruili express strong confidence in this year's harvest, citing the strong support from government and technical teams. Ningyang's integrated approach ensures that both technical and infrastructural services keep pace with agricultural demand. (Edited by Li Weiwei)
