Weihai companies power Shandong's water-saving future
Weihai has strengthened its role in Shandong's water-saving sector, as four local companies were recently named to the province's latest list of key water-saving enterprises. The recognition, jointly announced by the Shandong Provincial Department of Water Resources and the Department of Industry and Information Technology, reflects the city's growing influence in green development.
This brings the total to seven Weihai-based enterprises with provincial-level designation. Together, they form a full industry value chain covering water-saving equipment manufacture, wastewater treatment, and reclaimed water utilization. The network not only boosts innovation capacity but also reinforces industrial clustering and collaboration.
The city has actively fostered the sector's growth in recent years, particularly through the China-Europe Water Treatment and Membrane Technology Innovation Industrial Park. The park has attracted over 30 related enterprises, incubated seven high-tech firms, and fostered pioneering innovations such as the IoT-based "Menghuanxing Smart Water Meter", which allows real-time communication and instant valve reopening upon payment, overcoming the delays of traditional meters.
