Weihai police harness technology to ensure summer tourism safety
During peak tourism season, Weihai's scenic charm draws visitors from across China, adding vibrancy to the city but also placing extra demands on public safety services. To address this, the High-Tech Zone branch of the Weihai Public Security Bureau has adopted a blend of smart policing and people-focused service.
When large crowds lead to incidents such as missing persons, the branch uses a robot-assisted search network. Police robot dogs, equipped with a broadcast system, deliver search messages in a friendly voice to alert nearby crowds, while drones scan from above to quickly locate missing individuals.

This year, the branch expanded its "smart tourism patrol" model, building a land-sea-air security network. Patrols now combine foot and vehicle teams, drone surveillance, and beach patrol vehicles.
Since the start of summer, mobile police stations have been set up in high-traffic areas such as Torch Eighth Street. More than 2,000 patrol officers have been deployed, rescuing 46 lost children, returning 58 lost items, answering over 9,600 inquiries, and conducting more than 460 safety awareness activities.

By integrating advanced technology with attentive service, Weihai's High-Tech Zone police ensure that visitors not only enjoy the city's coastal beauty but also feel safe and well cared for throughout their stay. (Edited by Hu Kaili)
