In Chengwu county, Heze, Shandong, efforts to ban straw burning have been coupled with proactive exploration of new pathways for comprehensive straw utilization, transforming this ecological burden into economic wealth.
In a wheat field in Chengwu, after the completion of harvesting operations, straw scattered around is swiftly gathered into bundles by balers and bundlers for centralized recycling and reuse.
Located in Datianji town, Heze Luhua Huacheng Bioelectricity Co Ltd is a major player in promoting the utilization of straw for fuel. The company consumes over 500 metric tons of straw daily. Biomass power generation has a carbon-neutral effect, aiding in emission reduction through centralized combustion, equipped with desulfurization and denitrification technologies, thus contributing to air pollution prevention and control.
In addition to power generation through combustion, Chengwu county actively promotes the full utilization of straw, including the production of fertilizers and animal feed.
To date, Chengwu county has established 13 straw collection and storage sites serving over 400 villages, forming a well-rounded straw recovery network. The recycling and utilization of wheat straw not only safeguard local environment, but also create economic benefits, achieving a win-win situation for both ecology and the economy.
