Foreign visitors experience Chinese culture in Shandong
Twelve international guests from countries including Russia, Hungary, and Egypt embarked on a cultural journey at the Traditional Family Culture Park of China in Ningjin county, Dezhou, in East China's Shandong province on May 28.
During the tour, they immersed themselves in cultural activities celebrating Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on May 31, exploring the charm of Chinese culture by experiencing wood carving art and traditional folklore.
"It's my first time in Ningjin, Shandong. It's so beautiful here, and these buildings are so well preserved. It's amazing how wood can be carved into such intricate designs. Chinese people are really talented," an Egyptian visitor said.
The international visitors also participated in various intangible cultural heritage activities, such as making zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), paper cutting, making round fans, pot throwing, archery, and Luban locks. Through these activities, they gained insight into the cultural significance of Dragon Boat Festival.
"There is a kind of ancient and mysterious beauty here that is very awe-inspiring. I also listened to many traditional Chinese stories. Chinese culture is vast and profound," said a Russian visitor.
"We also tried paper cutting, archery, and other activities, which were very interesting. I love it here," she said.
