A cultural event titled "Preserving Intangible Heritage in Modern Education" was co-hosted by Shandong's Juye county and the High School Affiliated to Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen on May 23.

The ceremony featured the unveiling of the "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Juye Gongbi Peony Painting Enters Campus" event and the inauguration of the Shenzhen Promotion Center for the Greater Bay Area.

"Bringing intangible heritage into schools is vital to the revitalization of traditional culture. The school will deepen the development of aesthetic education courses, fostering cultural confidence in students," said Principal Li Xiaomin of the High School Affiliated to Southern University of Science and Technology.

During the unveiling ceremony, a sister school, a school promotion center, and a school featuring Juye Gongbi peony paintings were successively unveiled, marking a solid step in cultural preservation and educational cooperation.

An exhibition featuring Gongbi Peony paintings was also held. The exhibition displayed 68 Gongbi Peony paintings, featuring an immersive experience space for painting exchange activities, a calligraphy area, and a tea area, offering a unique cultural feast to teachers and students.

"The three-dimensional and layered effects of Gongbi Peony paintings are achieved through meticulous rendering, exemplified by the complex process involving 20 stages of coloring and shading necessary to create a natural and transparent three-dimensional effect on just a single petal," explained Hou Fuchang, vice-president of the Juye County Calligraphy and Painting Academy, to the teachers and students from the High School Affiliated to Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen. (Edited by Xie Zhenzhen)
