The Second Shandong Provincial Youth Student Jump Rope Competition officially commenced in Juye on May 17. This sports extravaganza, themed around youthfulness, not only served as a stage for teenagers to showcase their vitality but also became a significant window for Juye county to deepen the integration of sports and education, advancing the national fitness strategy.

Known as the hometown of national calligraphy and painting, and national martial arts, Juye county seamlessly integrated sports and culture throughout the event.

"This competition provides a platform for youth across the province to showcase themselves and their skills, while also offering a rare opportunity to showcase sports development in Heze," said Yang Bin, director of the Heze Education and Sports Bureau.

The vigorous development of sports in Juye county stems from solid grassroots practices and innovative drives. Since 2024, the county has organized over 100 fitness activities, engaging more than 20,000 individuals. The county has established urban and rural 15-minute fitness circles, achieving full coverage of community and village sports facilities.

In this competition, Juye county introduced intelligent jump rope equipment and real-time data monitoring systems for the first time, accurately recording participants' performances through technological means to support scientific training.

The integration of sports and education is emphasized in Juye county, as highlighted by Duan Hongbing, director of the county’s education and sports bureau.

Through the creation of unique sports features in each school, 85 percent of schools in the county offer artistic jump rope courses, resulting in students winning 26 gold medals in county-level competitions. The fusion of sports and culture is equally remarkable, with activities such as the display of intangible cultural heritage martial arts and Konglou acrobatics during the competition, allowing both participants and spectators to experience the unique cultural charm of Juye, according to Duan. (Edited by Xie Zhenzhen)
