During the early summer period, 730,000 mu (48,666.67 hectares) of wheat in Chengwu county, Shandong province, entered the grain-filling stage, a critical period for wheat yield formation and a high-risk period for diseases like red mold and rust.
Chengwu county allocated 4.23 million yuan ($586,172.26) for spraying foliar fertilizers, pesticides, and plant growth regulators, ensuring stable and increased summer grain production.
In Liulou village, the hum of electric motors accompanies the ascent of eight plant protection drones loaded with preventive solutions. Controlled precisely by operators, the drones swiftly spray the fields, covering dozens of mu in minutes.
Local government efforts involve spraying a mixture of insecticides, plant growth regulators, and micronutrients during the mid-to-late growth stages of wheat to prevent diseases, pests, and dry hot winds, crucial measures for increasing wheat yields.
Chengwu county mobilized 14 aerial prevention teams and established a special inspection team to supervise drug formulation and technical operations, ensuring the efficient completion of aerial prevention tasks.
Additionally, agricultural authorities actively organized farmers for collective prevention and control, laying a solid foundation for a bountiful summer harvest. (Edited by Xie Zhenzhen)
