Shandong county launches special campaign for gas safety

Ningyang county in Tai'an, Shandong province, is actively promoting the management of the liquefied gas market by integrating scattered individual gas filling stations and ensuring standardized procedures throughout the entire process from filling and transportation to safety inspection and usage.

More than 2,300 catering businesses in the county currently receive liquefied gas from 66 certified gas delivery workers. These workers, driving specialized delivery vehicles, install and conduct inspections to ensure safety standards are met.

By delineating delivery areas, standardizing gas supply criteria, and eliminating cross-region dumping and price cutting practices, businesses have shifted their focus towards improving service quality. As a result, the daily filling capacity of liquefied gas stations in the county has increased by 30 percent and the average waiting time for users has been reduced by 40 percent.

Manpower has been effectively utilized throughout the integration process. Many of the 66 gas delivery workers were former gas vendors, and instead of excluding them, their valuable experience has been incorporated into the formal system.

"Every time the gas delivery workers come, they help inspect the hoses and teach us how to check the valve seals," said a restaurant owner.

So far, Ningyang has eliminated over 1,300 potential gas safety hazards, resulting in a 90-percent decrease in illegal gas filling activities compared to before the integration.

"Integration is not the end but the beginning of long-term governance. Ningyang will continue to enhance its gas safety standards," stated an official from the Housing and Construction Bureau. (Edited by Li Weiwei)
