Every year, on the second day of the second lunar month, known as Longtaitou Festival, or Dragon Heads Raising Day, Zhangxiqiao village in Lingcheng district, Dezhou, comes alive with the Boluo Festival. Celebrated for over 300 years, this annual fair draws visitors from near and far who gather to savor traditional delicacies, enjoy folk performances, and immerse themselves in the region's rich cultural heritage.
This year, the festival took on an international flair as foreign students from Shandong University tried traditional crafts like straw weaving, sugar blowing, and calligraphy while delving into the festival's deep-rooted history. The rhythm of the drum dance and the intricate crocheting left a lasting impression and gave them a true taste of China's living traditions.
"I really enjoyed today's experience in Lingcheng," said Mary, one of the students. "The festival is so fascinating, and I loved learning about these traditions firsthand."
With its blend of history, craftsmanship, and community spirit, the Boluo Festival continues to be a cherished celebration. It preserves time-honored traditions while welcoming new generations and visitors from around the world to share in its charm. (Edited by Hu Kaili)
