Stepmom devotes 19 years to bedridden daughter
Every early morning, Zhao Hongfang, a farmer from Huimin county, Binzhou city, wakes up to cook, massage, feed, and clean her bedridden stepdaughter multiple times. She has followed this routine for the past 19 years. What few people know is that the girl she has been caring for, Lin Juan, is actually her stepdaughter.
In 2006, 18-year-old Lin was in a car accident while working in Qingdao. Though her life was saved, she could no longer care for herself. Seeing her husband's distress, Zhao reassured him, saying, "We'll face this together. I'll take care of her."
From that moment on, she placed Lin's bed next to hers, tending to her day and night. She tirelessly turned her, bathed her, and learned caregiving techniques to ease her pain. Thanks to Zhao's meticulous care, Lin Juan has never developed bedsores and remains clean and well-groomed.
To support the family, Zhao's husband worked in small businesses while Zhao took on all the farming. Despite years of hard work aging her prematurely, she never complained, hoping only for Lin Juan to call her "Mom."
Her unwavering dedication has touched the whole family, with her stepchildren now calling her a "great mother." Zhao has been honored as a "Binzhou Moral Model" and "Good Samaritan of Shandong" for her selflessness. (Edited by Lin Li)
