More than 10 international students from Liaocheng University recently visited Xiajin No 1 High School in East China's Shandong province, where they joined over 200 first-year students for a unique cultural exchange event.
The international students experienced the school's curriculum firsthand, explored traditional Chinese culture, and built lasting friendships.
The event began with a stroll through the school's tree-lined paths, where the international students enjoyed the campus's vibrant atmosphere.
They were impressed by the student achievements displayed on bulletin boards, seeing them as a reflection of China's strong educational system.
In the afternoon, the international guests took part in traditional Chinese cultural courses and toured the school's science plaza and other learning areas, guided by local students.
This hands-on experience helped them better understand Chinese culture and deepened the cultural exchange between the two groups.
"Chinese culture is fascinating. This event gave me a chance to experience a livelier side to China not found in textbooks, and the warmth of Xiajin No 1 High School made me feel at home," said Dong Mei, an international student from Jordan.
After the campus tour, both Chinese and international students gathered for English-language performances, including a stage play, and talked about their hometowns and dreams.
The highlight was a joint performance of a classic Chinese song created based on the poetry of Su Shi from the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
This cultural exchange broadened the students' global perspectives and gave the international guests a deeper understanding of China's rich cultural heritage. (Edited by Zhang Ying)
