This year, Dong'e county in Shandong province has taken Guokou village in Daqiao town and Aishan village in Tongcheng sub-district as pilot areas for a new grassroots governance model. The model is one of co-construction, co-governance, and shared benefits, which further boosts the participation, happiness, and sense of security of these residents.
To achieve this, the county has implemented a "grid governance" model, establishing a full-process system from collecting requests, resolving issues, to providing feedback through visits, and setting up a grid Party member household responsibility system.
Grid-based community workers are tasked with five functions: resolving neighborhood disputes, improving living environments, eliminating outdated customs, focusing on safety in production, and assisting those in need. They engage in face-to-face communication with villagers to identify and address community issues.
Moreover, the county is igniting new momentum in grassroots governance by closely integrating it with the performance evaluation of Party branches and Party members. (Edited by Li Weiwei)
