Dong'e county in Liaocheng, Shandong province is promoting the deep integration of culture and tourism, increasing the variety of cultural tourism products, and continuously enhancing the quality of tourism services.
Located in the county, the Cao Zhi Scenic Area in Yushan town is making full use of its rich history and culture and stunning natural landscapes to introduce an immersive live performance based on the poetry of Cao Zhi.
To create a coherent landscape layout, Dong'e is connecting attractions along the Yellow River, and the Yellow River hiking tourism route has been selected as a premium rural tourism route in China.
Furthermore, Dong'e is developing cultural and tourism products centered around its famous ejiao culture, and it has launched the unique Chinese Gelatin Museum focusing on a single variety of Chinese medicinal herbs.
Additionally, areas for traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis, plaster therapy, donkey meat delicacies, and other experiential zones have been established in the Ejiao Cultural Tourism Area, providing visitors with an immersive experience of traditional Chinese medicine culture.
From January to August this year, Dong'e has hosted a total of 2.7 million visitors, marking a 26-percent year-on-year increase and generating a total tourism revenue of 1.42 billion yuan ($196 million), a 31-percent year-on-year growth. (Edited by Li Weiwei)
