Chili production spices up rural vitalization in Shandong's Juye
The local chili industry in Juye county, Shandong, has an annual output value of 4 billion yuan ($551.94 million), which has become a distinct industry that enriches the local population.
Currently, it is the peak season for chili processing. Stepping into the LuYu Cold Chain Logistics Industry Development Co Ltd in Taomiao town, Juye county, the rich aroma of chilies fills the air. Inside the workshop, machines are running smoothly, and workers are busy on the production line. Soon, these fiery red chilies will become delicious condiments on dining tables.
As the main featured industry of Taomiao town, chili production is a major player in Juye county's chili cultivation and processing. The local advantage of large-scale chili cultivation has been transformed into an economic development advantage. As of now, Taomiao town's chili planting area has exceeded 30,000 mu (2,000 hectares). The output of its entire industry value chain is around 500 million yuan and is a good source of income for over 20,000 households in the area.
Juye county, located on the Yellow River floodplain, has distinct seasons, concentrated rainfall, and abundant light and heat resources. The superior geographical environment and fertile soil produce high-quality and good-colored chilies.
In recent years, Juye has made industrial development a crucial support for rural vitalization. The county has cultivated a full agricultural industry chain and promoted industrial integration. Many towns in the county have worked to develop new kinds of chili planting and processing industries.
