Hedong: Digitalization powers smarter urban management
The "Smart City Management" platform of Hedong district, Linyi city, is able to address urban issues such as damaged traffic signs and improperly parked shared bicycles and then resolve cases within five minutes of detection. This digital approach, powered by big data, has drastically improved efficiency and precision in urban governance.
Covering areas like waste disposal, road maintenance, and flood prevention, Hedong district has integrated aerial surveillance, road monitoring, and public facility videos into a single operations platform. This system enables real-time monitoring of air pollution, straw burning, and road conditions, in order to address complex urban challenges effectively.

The platform can quickly detect, dispatch, and resolve problems, which gives city management refined, digitized, and scientific methods to make improvements. By integrating departmental systems, it also supports smart landscaping and sanitation initiatives.
Divided into 10 responsibility grids with a clear three-tier management structure, Hedong district processed 77,856 cases in 2023, achieving a 98.49 percent resolution rate. Digitalization is steering the district toward smarter, more efficient urban management. (Edited by Lin Li)
