In the Wuhuayuan neighborhood of Laiwu district, Jinan, Shandong province, the hometown of the renowned Chinese essayist and educator Wu Boxiao (1906–1982), there's a pioneering management model that integrates mass arts and volunteer service.
The neighborhood has started a volunteer service team consisting of over 240 members who excel in drumming, waist drum performances, and square dancing.
On various occasions, team members show their artistic talents, while in their everyday interactions, they work towards fostering harmonious neighborly relationships.
The community assigns specific individuals for tasks related to environmental improvements, neighborhood conflicts, and economic disputes, with meetings flexibly located within residential areas and along the streets.
In the Wuhuayuan neighborhood, mass arts are not only embellishing daily life but also a way of spreading positive energy. In the future, the Wuhuayuan neighborhood will continue to forge ahead in heritage and innovation, expanding the wisdom of social management. (Edited by Li Weiwei)
